An evening of exceptional songwriting and storied musicianship awaits at the Seaside Music Festival in Sidney, BC, as two pillars of Canadian folk—Shari Ulrich and Roy Forbes—take the stage for a rare shared bill. With decades of musical legacy between them, Ulrich and Forbes bring deeply rooted artistry, vivid lyricism, and a wealth of lived experience that has shaped the fabric of Canadian acoustic music.
Opening the evening is Pony Gold, the magnetic new project fronted by Theresa Bromley. With a sound that fuses raw folk textures and introspective indie sensibilities, Pony Gold has quickly become a name to watch among discerning listeners.
The Seaside Music Festival offers a vibrant, community-rich program of events including free daytime performances at the Beacon Bandshell, evening concerts at the Army, Navy, and Airforce Unit #302 and educational workshops at the Mary Winspear Centre. Roy Forbes
Roy Forbes is one of Canada’s best loved songwriters and performing artists. He’s been at it for over fifty years now and has picked up some tokens of appreciation from his peers along the way. There is a street named after him in his hometown of Dawson Creek in Northern B.C. and a star on Vancouver’s Granville Street where the names of the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame members are enshrined. Over the years, Roy has had a couple of Juno nominations and has a handful of WCMA awards on his shelf. In 2021, he received a CFMA ‘Producer of the year’ nomination for his work on his current album, Edge of Blue. https://royforbes.com/
Pony Gold
Pony Gold crafts timeless, tender-hearted songs that resonate deeply. Canadian Singer-
songwriter Theresa Bromley blends folk, bluegrass and soul with an alt-country attitude,
performing live with a full band featuring husband Matt Bromley on slide guitar; she is known for
raw, personal lyricism, and a distinctive vocal style. Bromley debuted as Pony Gold in 2023 with Take Me Somewhere, which charted in the top 5 on college radio, and earned a BCCMA Group
of the Year nomination. She’s been hard at work on her first full-length album, produced by Leeroy Stagger, with the first singles expected to start rolling out in summer of 2025. https://www.ponygoldmusic.com/
